Saying Goodbye for 2 Years
January 16, 2018
We dropped Elder O'Connor off at the airport after a brief stop at the DMV. The night before we realized that his drivers license expires while he is in the UK, so we needed to get an early renewal before he left. Luckily the man that helped us was so kind and we were in and out in 15 minutes.
Everyone has asked us if saying goodbye for the second time was easier or harder. Well the truth is that is was harder the second time. We have spent so much time together going to doctors appointments, physical therapy appointments and just spending time since he was home. The night before he told me, "Mom, I'm really going miss you guys"! He is just the sweetest.
We got through check in and weighing pretty quickly. His luggage weighed in as 50 and 48 lbs. He was very happy about that. We went upstairs and waited for Ashleigh to arrive. We took pictures and met some of the other families that were sending missionaries off. Once Ashleigh arrived, we took pictures and said our goodbyes. After the hugs and tears we watched him go through security. Thank heavens there was a big group of missionaries going to Tennessee so he had some people to go through it with. He had a smile on his face the whole time.
